This Privacy Policy explains what information ProfilePro (“we”, “us”) collects about you, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website, web app and related services (the “Service”). We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and other data-protection laws that apply to us. By using the Service you confirm you have read this policy.
1. The short version
We collect what you give us, what is needed to run your account and keep it safe, and basic information about how you use the Service.
We use it to run ProfilePro, to help people find work and hire, to verify identities, to keep the Service safe and to improve it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Sensitive checks such as your ID, selfie and bank account are used to verify you, are not shown on your profile, and are seen only by people and systems that need them.
You can see, change, download or delete your information, and you can control who finds your profile and whether your activity is used to personalise what you see.
2. Who we are and who this applies to
ProfilePro decides why and how your personal data is used when you use the Service, which makes us the data controller. This policy covers everyone who uses the Service, including professionals, hirers, business admins, visitors and people who contact us. Where a hirer receives your application, they also handle your information for their own hiring and have their own responsibilities for it.
3. Information we collect

Cookies and similar technologies, described below.
Information from others
Other users who add you to a contract, workspace, interview, team or business page, or who message you or write about you.
Verification and identity partners, banks and public registries who confirm the information you submit.
Sign-in and email providers, if you register or sign in with them.
4. Verification and other sensitive information
Verification involves information that is especially personal. We handle it with extra care:
We collect it only when you choose to verify, and we use it to confirm your identity, to prevent fraud and to meet our legal duties.
Your ID document, selfie and bank details are not shown on your public profile. Other users see only a badge or status.
Access is limited to authorised reviewers, security staff and trusted service providers who need it to complete the check or to investigate abuse.
We store this information securely and keep it only as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, including fraud prevention and legal compliance.
By submitting verification information, you give us your consent to process it for these purposes. You can withdraw consent, but we may then be unable to keep your verification status.
5. How we use your information
To provide the Service: create and secure your account, show your profile, power search, jobs, applications, messaging, contracts, workspaces and your wallet.
To verify and protect: confirm identities and businesses, detect and prevent fraud, scams, abuse and security incidents, and enforce our User Agreement.
To connect people: suggest jobs, candidates and people, and rank results, using your profile and, if you allow it, your activity.
To communicate with you: send service messages, security alerts, notifications and replies to your questions, and, where you have agreed, product updates.
To process payments and keep records: handle payouts and billing, and keep financial and legal records.
To improve ProfilePro: understand how the Service is used, fix problems, test new features and measure performance, usually with data that is combined or de-identified.
To meet legal obligations: respond to lawful requests, comply with tax, anti-money-laundering and other rules, and establish or defend legal claims.
6. Why we are allowed to use your information
We rely on one or more of these legal grounds, depending on the activity:
Contract: where we need your information to provide the Service you asked for.
Consent: where you agree, for example to verification checks, optional personalisation or marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Legitimate interests: where we have a good reason that does not override your rights, such as keeping the Service safe and improving it.
Legal obligation: where the law requires us to process information.
7. What other people can see
Profile: your name, photo, headline and the information you put on your Professional profile can be seen by other users, depending on your visibility settings. You decide whether your profile can be found in search and by whom from Settings, under Privacy and safety.
Business pages and job posts: are visible to the people you allow and to the public where you publish them.
Applications: when you apply, the hirer and the admins of that business can see your application, your profile and the documents you attach.
Contracts, messages and workspaces: are visible to the people in them.
Verification: others see only whether you or your business is verified, not your documents.
Posts and comments: are visible to the audience you post them to.
Anything you choose to make public can be seen, copied and shared by others, and may be indexed by search engines. Think before you post.
8. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these ways:
With other users, as described above, and with the business or person you choose to apply to, work with or message.
With service providers who work for us under contract, such as cloud hosting, database and file storage, email and notification delivery, analytics, customer support, payments, bank-account and identity verification, and security services. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
For legal reasons: where we believe in good faith that we must respond to a lawful request from a court, regulator or law enforcement, to enforce our agreements, to protect people’s safety or the Service, or to prevent fraud.
In a business change: if we merge with, or are acquired by, another business, or sell assets, your information may be transferred, and we will tell you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With your consent or at your direction, for example when you connect another service or ask us to share a document.
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.
9. Where your information is processed
Our service providers may store and process information in countries other than your own, including outside Nigeria. When we transfer personal data internationally, we take steps required by data-protection law, such as using providers that offer an adequate level of protection, putting contracts in place or relying on your consent where appropriate.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, secure your account, understand how the Service is used and measure performance. You can usually block or delete cookies in your browser, but parts of the Service may stop working if you do. Some information is stored on your device to keep the app fast and to remember where you were.
11. Personalisation and your choices
Profile visibility: choose who can find your Professional profile from Settings, under Privacy and safety.
Personalisation: choose whether your activity is used to tailor the jobs, people and content you see, from the same page. Turning it off does not remove ads or recommendations altogether, but they will use less of your activity.
Notifications: choose which email, product-update and push messages you get from Notification preferences. We may still send important service and security messages.
Devices and sessions: review where you are signed in and remove devices from Security and account access.
Two-factor authentication: add a second step to protect your account.
12. How long we keep your information
We keep information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. After that, we delete or de-identify it, unless the law requires or allows us to keep it longer. For example, we may keep:
transaction and billing records, for as long as tax, accounting and financial rules require;
verification outcomes and related records, to prevent repeat fraud and to meet our legal duties;
information needed to handle a complaint, dispute, investigation or legal claim;
backups, which are deleted on a regular cycle;
content you shared with other people, which they may still hold, such as a message in their inbox or a contract signed with them.
13. How we protect your information
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, separation of sensitive data, monitoring and staff and provider obligations of confidentiality. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please help protect your account: use a strong and unique password, turn on two-factor authentication, never share verification codes, and sign out of shared devices. If a data breach puts your rights at risk, we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires.
14. Your rights
Under data-protection law, you may have the right to:
Be informed about how we use your information, which this policy does.
Access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy.
Correct information that is wrong or incomplete. You can edit most of it yourself in your profile and account settings.
Delete your information, in certain circumstances.
Restrict or object to certain uses, including processing based on our legitimate interests and direct marketing.
Data portability: receive your information in a structured, commonly used format.
Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it, without affecting what we did before.
Not to be subject to a decision based only on automated processing that significantly affects you, in the cases the law covers.
Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or to the regulator where you live.
To use a right, go to Settings, under Your account, or ask through our WhatsApp support. We may need to confirm it is you, and we will respond within the time the law requires. We may decline a request where the law allows, and we will explain why.
15. Deactivating or deleting your account
You can deactivate or delete your account from Settings, under Your account. If you delete your account, we will remove or de-identify your personal information, apart from what we must or may keep, as explained under “How long we keep your information”. Content you shared with others, and records of contracts and payments, may remain for the other people involved.
16. Children
The Service is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, tell us through the Help Center and we will delete it.
17. Links and third-party services
The Service may contain links to, or work with, other websites and services. This policy does not cover them, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service or the law changes. If we make a significant change, we will tell you, for example by a notice in the app or by email, before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
19. Contact us
For questions about this policy, to use your rights or to make a complaint, contact us through our WhatsApp support, where you can also message our team on WhatsApp.
